The Diwali festival signifies the win of good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and light over darkness. People lit up the lamps in the house to illuminate the path to knowledge and victory.
Diwali ceremony was observed by the inhabitants of Ayodhya when Lord Ramachandra was returned to Ayodhya after defeating demon Ravana and completing the 14 years of exile by the order of His father.
The Pandavas also returned from their exile in the forest during Diwali time. -Adi Parva, Mahabharat
On Diwali Krishna performed the Damodar Lila pastime and He was bound by the love of Mother Yashoda. On the same day, He delivered the Nalakuvera and Manigriva, sons of Kuvera, from the curse of Narada Muni.
ISKCON Juhu celebrates the Diwali ceremony by illuminating 100s of clay lamps indifferent parts of the temple, offering a special Bhoga to the Deity and singing the Damodarastakam and kirtan.
