The most merciful Lord Nityananda blesses all on His divine appearance day !
On 10th February 2025, ISKCON Juhu joyfully celebrated the appearance day of Lord Nityananda Prabhu, the eternal associate of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and the embodiment of divine compassion and mercy.
The festivities began with an uplifting Shobha Yatra, where the beautifully adorned Deity of Lord Nityananda & Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was taken in a grand procession along Juhu Beach, accompanied by jubilant kirtan and dancing devotees. The streets came alive with the chanting of the holy names, drawing many passersby to pause, offer respects, and receive the Lord’s blessings.
Back at the temple, a solemn and spiritually charged abhishek ceremony was performed, where Lord Nityananda & Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu were bathed with sacred items amidst the chanting of Brahma Samhita. A special lecture followed, highlighting the unmatched mercy and glorious pastimes of Lord Nityananda, who is worshipped as the Adi-guru, or original spiritual master.
Born around 1474 in Ekachakra, a small village in present-day West Bengal, Lord Nityananda exhibited divine qualities from childhood. As a young boy, He would enact the pastimes of Lord Krishna and Lord Rama with such authenticity that the entire village would be spiritually transported. At the age of 13, He left home to travel with saintly sannyasis, spending over two decades visiting holy places and associating with exalted Vaishnavas.
His life took a divine turn when He met Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in 1506, marking the beginning of a powerful spiritual movement. Lord Nityananda played a pivotal role in spreading sankirtana—the congregational chanting of the holy names—throughout Bengal and beyond. His mercy knew no bounds; He uplifted even the most fallen souls, granting them love for God.
As part of the celebration, devotees observed a half-day fast, which concluded with the distribution of delicious Krishna prasadam to thousands of visitors. The temple overflowed with devotion, as devotees left spiritually nourished and blessed, carrying in their hearts the merciful glance of Lord Nityananda Prabhu.
