World Holy Name Week Benefits Hundreds
Devotees at ISKCON Juhu celebrated the ‘World Holy Name Week’ from 19 – 29 September 2013. Various devotional activities were lined up for ten-day event which aimed to presentopportunities to devotees to chant the Holy Name and thereby enhance their spiritual consciousness.
Some of the activities undertaken by the devotees as part of the celebrations were chanting extra rounds of the Hare Krishna Mahamatra on their beads, reading daily from ‘Namamrita’, conducting a 12-hour kirtan in the temple hall and a Japa Marathon which saw devotees chanting the Hare Krishna Maha-mantra on their chanting beads throughout the day.
The highlight of the event was a Maha-Harinam at Juhu Beach on 29 Sept which saw participation from all four ISKCON temples in Mumbai namely Juhu, Chowpatty, Mira Road and Khargar. The chanting of the Holy Names not only benefitted the devotees but the onlookers who either joined in the procession or silently chanted the Holy Name of the Lord during theirSunday evening outing.
World Holy Name Week is an annual global event which is undertaken enthusiastically by all ISKCON temples and centers across the world.
