Vrindavan recreated for Sri Radhastami

Radhastami 2010Hundreds of devotees and congregation members attended the mangala-arati which marked one of the first celebrations of the day to celebrate the appearance of Srimati Radharani. More congregation members and devotees joined later for the Shobha-yatra where they carried the utsava-murti of Sri Sri Radha Rasabihari on the silver palanquin and circumbulated the temple thrice before proceeding to the temple decorated with multi-colored flowers in designs of stars, butterflies, etc for Sringar-darshan.Devotees learned more about the divine qualities of Srimati Radharani through a discourse given by Srila Prabhupada (through a tape which was played in the temple hall) followed by glories of Srimati Radharani by Bhima prabhu (Zonal Secretary).

A newly constructed boat, especially put together for boat festivals at the temple, was inaugurated by Bhima prabhu and Braja Hari prabhu (Temple President) with the performance of puja and kirtan. Students of Bhaktivedanta Swami Mission School from Kindergarden to Std X, visited the temple for darshan and participated in the abhishek. Hundreds of congregation members also joined for the maha-abhishek of Sri Sri Radha Rasabihari which was followed by arati and prasada feast for all.
The special highlight of the day was the offering of an exquisite flower dress to all the Deities on the altar. Several devotees toiled for hours arranging various color flowers for form outfits, crowns and ornaments for the Deities. The stunning flower outfit captivated devotees and visitors when the altar gates opened for darshan in evening at 5pm.
Latter in the evening, the devotees moved to the temple courtyard to witness another stunning event. The temple courtyard was filled with water sprinkled with bright colored flowers to divide the waters into ‘RadhaKund’ and ‘Shyamkund’(which are originally present in Vrindavan where Sri Sri RadhaKrishna perform eternal pastimes). Devotees and visitors cheered for & glorified as Sri Sri Radha Rasabihari boarded Their newly constructed flower bedecked boat which depicted vibrant peacock designs and a formidable Sri Anant Shesh. Sri Sri Radha Rasabihari rode in their boat for a couple of hours while devotee and visitors not only relished Their darshan and blessing but also delicious mahaprasad sweets.
