Srimati Sitadevi’s appearance celebrated
Devotees at the temple celebrated Sitanavami on May 12th 2011. Sitanavami is the auspicious day of the appearance of Srimati Sitadevi, the eternal consort of Lord Rama.
Srimati Sitadevi, daughter of the Earth goddess appeared to King Janak when he was ploughing a piece of land. A land ploughed by the yoke is called ‘Sita’, and so he named her Sita. Srimati Sita devi is also a manifestation of the Goddess of fortune, Laksmidevi.
The festivities began early in the morning with a shobha yatra at Juhu beach with the utsav murti of Sri Sri Sita Rama, Lakshmana, Hanuman and Srila Prabhupada on a gold flower bedecked palanquin blessing people en route. The celebrations at the temple began with the exquisite Sringar-darshan of their Lordships, followed by Maha-abhishek and Maha-arati of Sri Sri Sita Rama in the temple room full of devotees, life members and well-wishers amidst chanting of the Hare Krishna Maha-mantra and glories of Sri Sri Sita Rama!
