The appearance of Lord Rama is celebrated as Ramnavmi. Ramnavmi falls on the ninth day of waxing fortnight of the month of Chaitra. In Treta-yuga, the Supreme Lord appeared as son of King Dasharath as Lord Ramachandra. Although he appeared as a man out of kindness to His devotees, along with His brother Lakshman, He is the Supreme Lord.
On Friday, 3 April 2009, International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), celebrated RAMNAVMI – the appearance of Lord Ramachandra with great pomp and gaiety.
A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, founder of ISKCON, had beautiful Deities of Sri Sri Sita Rama Laxman Hanuman installed at ISKCON Juhu to benefit the citizens of Mumbai to worship Lord Ramachandra.
The Deities were decorated in exquisite new outfits for the occasion. The celebrations included Kalash abhishek by accomplished members of society, a maha-abhishek, maha-arati, discourses about Lord Rama and his pastimes, kirtans, prasadam and concluded with the beautiful boat festival where Sri Sri Sita Rama were taken for a ride in the temple courtyard in a flower-bedecked boat.
