Nira Narsingapur Visit Inspires BYC Members
The Bhaktivedanta Youth Club members organized and participated in a camp at Nira Narsingpur on 24 -25 December 2012 . Nira Narsingpur is a place near Solapur and an hour away from Pandharpur. It is this place that Narada Muni, in his ashram instructed Prahlad the glories of devotional service when he was in the womb of his mother, Kayadu. It is also the birth place of Prahlad Maharaj.
The group was enlightened by talks on ‘Prahlad Maharaj instructs his Schoolmates’ from Srimad Bhagvatam, 7th Canto, by Kamal Lochan Das, Temple President, Mira Road.
The Deity at the temple is especially significant since it was personally carved by Prahlad Maharaj himself when he was an infant and has been worshipped ever since. The stone temple, was made by the Peshwas and is approximately 150 years old. The head priest, while mentioning about the history of the temple also mentioned that the worship is being conducted regularly by his family since 45 generations!
The place also has geographical significance since it is the confluence of the rivers, Nira and Bhima and is considered to be the centre of the universe. Understanding the spiritual significance of this place, the devotees took every opportunity to increase their chanting and hearing.
The camp started with an introductory lecture by Kamal Lochan Das stating the significance of the place. The further lectures were on ‘Prahlad Maharaj’s instructions to his classmates’ from Srimad Bhagavatam. In the evening the group took bath in the Nira river. They also visited the tree where Sri Narsingadev first appeared and gave darshan to Prahlad Maharaj when he was in the womb of his mother, Kayadu.
The group recited the Laxmi Narsingh stotra by Sripad Shankaracharya and dwelled on the meaning of the same. After fixing their consciousness on the Supreme Protector- Lord Narsingdev and chanting Narsingh aarti, they concluded the camp with realizations of devotees, their resolutions and a vote of thanks. The camp was very inspiring and motivated everyone to take shelter of Lord Narsinghdev.

Oh Lakshmi Nrsimha,
Who lives in the ocean of milk,
Who holds the holy wheel as weapon,
Who wears the gems of the head,
Of Adhisesha as ornaments,
Who has the form of good and holy deeds,
Who is the permanent protection of sages,
And who is the boat which helps us cross,
This ocean of misery called life,
Please give me protection
