His Holiness Mukunda Goswami Visits Mumbai
Mukunda Goswami visited Sri Sri Radha Rasabihari temple en route to Australia on 17 April 2009.
Mukunda Goswami was in Udipi from mid-March to mid-April to receive intensive ayurvedic treatment. His visited Mumbai while in transit to Australia. He arrived at Sri Sri Radha Rasabihari temple from the airport late in the morning of 17th April. After honoring prasad and brief rest, he walked down to Juhu beach for an evening walk. He mentioned that the walk was ‘a trip down the memory lane’ and remembered his earlier visits with Srila Prabhupada at ISKCON Juhu and Juhu beach. Thereafter he visited the temple Library and expressed interest in several books published in the last few years. Braj Hari prabhu gave him a brief tour of the ‘Heaven on Earth’ project and the new Govinda’s restaurant. After a light snack, Maharaj left for airport to catch his flight for Australia.
It maybe recalled that Mukunda Goswami was amongst the first devotees who met Srila Prabhupada in New York in 1960s. He helped Srila Prabhupada start ISKCON’s first center ‘Matchless Gifts’ on 26 Second Ave. in New York. Thereafter he assisted Srila Prabhupada to set up the Krishna conscious movement in San Francisco and England. He was a close friend of George Harrison (of the Beatles).
Mukunda Goswami has written and co-authored several books, articles and newsletters and continues to be the executive editor of ISKCON Newsletters and associate editor of the Back to Godhead magazine. For almost a decade he was a Governing Body Commissioner (GBC) member and Director of ISKCON Communications. Presently he lives on the rural temple community in Australia and his memoirs of Srila Prabhupada are due out soon.
