Lord Caitanya showers His mercy on Gaur Purnima
Devotees celebrated Gaur Purnima festival on 19 March 2011. Gaura Purnima is a Gaudiya Vaishanva festival that celebrates the divine appearance of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu in Navadwipa, India. Gaura Purnima means “Golden Full Moon”. The name signifies that Lord Caitanya took birth at time of full moon and He blesses everyone with the moonlike rays of His teachings.
Lord Caitanya is non-different than Lord Krishna appearing as His own devotee. He spread the congregation chanting of Holy Name and taught that one can gain enlightenment by chanting Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare / Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.
The festivities at ISKCON Juhu began with Mangala-arati which was attended by hundreds of devotees. Thereafter, the utsava-murti of Sri Sri Gaur Nitai was carried by devotees in the silver palanquin decorated with flowers to Juhu beach amidst chanting of Hare Krishna maha-mantra. HH Gopal Krishna Goswami enlightened everyone hearts with Gaur-katha. A special movie on the life and teachings of Lord Caitanya was screened at ISKCON Auditorium.
In the evening, thousands of visitors joined the devotees, life members and congregation devotees to witness the Maha-abhishek and Maha-arati performed by HH Gopal Krishna Goswami and senior devotees. This was followed by feast dinner prasad arrangement for almost 1000 people including visitors, life members and devotees.
