Enlivening New Year 2013 Celebrations

The transcendental New Year Party at Hare Krishna Land on 31 December 2012 saw close to 800 people welcome 2013 amidst fun, joy, entertainment and an optimistic spirit all in a Krishna Conscious way.

Mukunda Madhava Das and Brajasundar Devi Dasi inaugurated the celebration by lighting a lamp and garlanding the picture of Sri Sri Radha Rasabihariji and Srila Prabhupada. The event opened with games such as The Wheel of Transmigration, Guess the Name of Lord Krishna and The Master Key to Freedom. Every game was based around a theme related to Lord Krishna. The delicious dinner prasada that followed included delicious panner chilli, puri, chole, jalebi, rice, dal and creamy kulfi.

The little kids of the congregation members enthralled everyone with their delightful performance of a dance drama ‘Krishna Request Food from Wives of Brahmanas’ The highlight of the stage performance was an Antakshari (singing song by taking turns) based on devotional songs which had the enlivened audience humming to sweet songs of Vaishnava acharyas (saints). Not only the team on the stage won prizes for guessing or singing the correct Vaishnava songs but members of the audience who participate were also received gifts.

An entertaining skit about two thieves who are out for a loot but finally lose their hearts to the practice of Bhakti-yoga left everyone laughing and little more enlightened about the teachings of Bhagavad-gita. Devakinandan Das engaged everyone in a short talk on bringing in a successful New Year. Everyone brought in 2013 by dancing and singing to the foot-tapping Hare Krishna Mantra kirtan by Go-pal Beat Group.
