The teachings of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), also popularly known as the Hare Krishna movement, are based on sincerely and systematically  cultivating true spiritual science which can free us from anxiety and restore the original nature of the soul of pure unending blissful consciousness in this life time itself.

ISKCON is a nonsectarian mission, which follows the teachings of Bhagavad-gita (song of God), a literal record of Lord Krishna’s words.  The Absolute truth is contained in the Vedas – ancient spiritual scriptures.

The essence of Vedas is found in the Bhagavad-gita and the Srimad Bhagavatam  (historical narration of the Supreme God, Sri Krishna). Srimad Bhagavatam basically teaches devotion to Krishna through the process of meditation.  Meditation on glories of Lord Krishna. Both these scriptures, Bhagavad-gita and Srimad Bhagavatam are road maps towards perfecting our human existence.  They glorify Krishna, the Supreme God who is eternal, all knowing, buy doxycycline usa omnipresent, all powerful and all attractive. He is the seed giving father of all living beings.  Therefore our process entails hearing, chanting and dancing the glories of the Lord which is the recognized method of religion in this age.

‘Krishna’ which means ‘all-attractive’, is also known by other names such as Jehnovah, Allah, etc. ISKCON belongs to the Brahma Madhava Gaudiya Sampradaya, a monotheistic tradition within the Vedic culture. It is part of the disciplic succession which has its origins Lord Krishna Himself and was continued by Caitanya Mahaprabhu, a saint who appeared in 15th century.

ISKCON teaches that the goal of life is to develop love of God which is realized through practice of devotional service (bhakti-yoga). It aims to utilize this world by seeing everything within it as an opportunity to engage in Krishna’s service.

What We Do

ISKCON Purpose

One of the most prominent and important activities of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is to present systematically the science of Krishna Consciousness. Propagating the message of Lord Krishna is the integral part of our temple activities.

Krishna’s holy names are endowed with all of His potencies and this sound vibration can reawaken a person to his spiritual identity and existence. We have forgotten our real identity and this forgetfulness is the root cause of our suffering in this material world. Our temples do not endorse the bell ringing culture. It is only the sound vibration of the Holy Names – the Hare Krishna Mahan Mantra – that reverberates in all our temples.

A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, founder of ISKCON, inherited the mission to distribute books on Krishna Consciousness from his spiritual master and passed on to his disciples. Our books have immense potency to help the soul to take up the process of devotional service.  Those who embrace the uplifting concepts found in Srila Prabhupada’s books often like to share with others.  Formerly Sanskrit literation was not easily available even in India. Srila Prabupada’s spiritual master, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur had a more liberal cheap accutane 20mg attitude and encouraged his disciples to print and distribute the ancient Vedic scriptures generously. Our transcendental literature is distributed at every prominent spot around the globe.

ISKCON engages on a large scale basis in distributing sanctified food from our temples through our “Food for Life” program.   By honoring such sanctified food – called prasada, which means mercy of the Lord, not only our bodies get nourished, but we also derive immense spiritual benefit ultimately resulting in love for Krishna and relief from the four material miseries (birth, old age, disease and death).

Our distribution of prasada on a daily basis reaches out to most town and cities across the world.  Through our Food for life program we provide support in many emergency situations such as earthquake drought flood and tornado afflicted areas.

Food for Life provides a spiritual solution alleviating karmic reactions and immediate relief to people suffering from modern society’s abuse of nature.

ISKCON temples are world class with highest standard of deity worship. The temples are spiritual abodes with the most beautiful Deities who receive the highest standard of deity worship.
