Mumbai's Four ISKCON Centers celebrate WHNW 2009

In Mumbai, ISKCON's four centers conducted four separate Harinams (street chanting of the holy names of God accompanied by mrdangas and kartalas)during the fortnight from September 12 to September 20. The unlimited mercy of the compassionate Lord flowed and flowed as thousands participated in well-organized festivals.

The Mumbai chapter of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) will observe “World Holy Name Week,” a celebration of the spiritual practice of chanting God’s names beginning from 6 – 20 September 2009.

Srimati Radharani expressed her inconceivable benevolence to India’s youngest fashion designer Nishka Lulla when she benignly adorned the outfit designed by Nishka on Her auspicious appearance day – Radhastami which fell on 27 August 2009 this year.

Narsimha Caturdasi Celebrations
Sri Narsimhadev is Lord Krishna’s half-man and half-lion incarnation. Lord Krishna appeared in This form to protect His devotee Prahlada Maharaj from the atrocities of his father Hiranyakashipu and reestablish religious principles.
After the death of his brother Hiranyaksha at the hands of Lord Varahadev, Hiranyakashipu wanted to avenge his brother’s death and thus performed severe austerities to rule over the universe. He gained an audience with Lord Brahma and requested him to grant him immortality. Although Lord Brahma didn’t grant him immortality, he gave him the boon that Hiranyakashipu could not be killed by any man or animal, by anything living or dead, during day or night, inside or outside, on the land or in the sea or sky.
Jhulan yatra 2009

ISKCON Juhu shall celebrate the Jhulan-yatra festival from 1-5 August 2009 . The festival will be conducted in the temple courtyard where a flower-bedecked ornate silver swing shall hold the utsav-murti of Sri Sri Radha Rasabihari. Life members, donors, devotees and hundreds of citizens of Mumbai are expected to participate in the festivities and personally swing the Lord.
Chaturmasya period begins

Devotees participation in Gundica Cleaning

Resident and congregation devotees, temple management and a few visitors came together to enthusiastically participate in the Gundica Marjana festival which was observed on 23 June 2009.
